You’ve had the leader briefing and the mechanics have familiarised you with the small Honda CT110. You load your bag into the truck and get on your bike. Ahead is 10-11 days of riding covering 3000-4000 kms across the Australian landscape. No, this is not your average weekend ride and you will be challenged by a combination of road surfaces including bitumen, sand, gravel, stones, river crossings, bulldust and snow on your way to the destination.
The Postie Bike Challenge is a truly unique motorcycle adventure. It is not a typical tour or a rally - you ride at your own pace but you are not alone. There will be 50 other riders, several support vehicles with fuel, water, mechanics, satellite phones and first aid staff. All you need is to turn up with your riding gear - we even supply the duffle bag for your clothes and camp gear.
Our routes take you through towns and landscapes that most would avoid on their own due to the vast distances, lack of mechanical support, inhospitable landscape and lack of fuel. At times you will be tested by the shear distance to be covered in a day. At other times it will be more technical riding where intense concentration is required.
You will be taken out of your comfort zone on some days, but the sense of personal accomplishment and camaraderie that such an event inspires makes it all worthwhile. Whether you come alone or with a friend, you are sure to leave with many new friendships.
Nothing will fill you with more pride and satisfaction than knowing that we are supporting local charities and community groups along the way and that the donation of the motorcycle and/or cash will go to worthy local community programs.
This is the event that will have you telling your friends stories ad nauseam!

Hobart to Alice Springs in 2013
We have listened to your suggestions and in 2013 we will include Tasmania as the launching pad for another Postie Bike Challenge adventure. We currently have our team scouring over the best routes, roads, and fire trails through Tasmania. Our route through Victoria is still being planned but I can say that we are making a bee-line for the edge of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia before taking the Oodnadatta track to our final destination in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. As in previous events we will be looking for all manner of roads and surfaces to challenge you. If we can find a good sand track … we’ll take it!. If we can find a water crossing … we’ take it! If there is a fire trail to the top of a mountain … we’ll take it!
We are planning to be part of the Henley on Todd event (www.henleyontodd.com.au) which is a huge yearly event in Alice Springs over the weekend after our arrival. We are still early in the planning process but expect that all riders will be invited to take part in the Grand Parade and also get free access to the corporate boxes for food and drink while enjoying the best seats in town for the Henley on Todd festivities.
